السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ
“Your gift is vastly superior to my insignificant gift.”

When someone has harmed you, forgive them and send them a gift, for the reward and benefits of forgiveness are so great you should almost be feeling a little selfish.
Whenever anyone verbally harmed alHasan alBasari he would send them a gift along with the message:
“Your gift is vastly superior to my insignificant gift.”
Allah promises those who forgive, forgiveness.
وَلۡيَعۡفُواْ وَلۡيَصۡفَحُوٓاْۗ أَلَا تُحِبُّونَ أَن يَغۡفِرَ ٱللَّهُ لَكُمۡۗ وَٱللَّهُ غَفُورٌ۬ رَّحِيمٌ
“Let them forgive and overlook: do you not wish that Allah should forgive you? For Allah is Oft-Forgiving Most Merciful” an-Noor/22
Allah also describes the people of Paradise that they are forgiving and are those who do good. So ask yourself if Allah gives Paradise to those who pardon…isn’t Paradise worth it? Or does it feel better to have that hatred, anger, and fury in your heart. For goodness’ sake, it’s even good for your health to forgive!
ٱلَّذِينَ يُنفِقُونَ فِى ٱلسَّرَّآءِ وَٱلضَّرَّآءِ وَٱلۡڪَـٰظِمِينَ ٱلۡغَيۡظَ وَٱلۡعَافِينَ عَنِ ٱلنَّاسِۗ وَٱللَّهُ يُحِبُّ ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ
“Those who spend (freely) whether in prosperity or in adversity; who restrain anger and forgive people; for Allah loves those who do good.” Aal Imraan/134
Don’t be selfish by forgiving and keeping all this goodness and reward to yourself, give a gift to the one who started it all.
